Photog Life December Featured Photographer 2018 ~ Katie Ventura
It's time to meet our December Photog Life featured photographer, Katie Ventura!
I am so excited that we had the chance to get to know Katie a little more this month. She has been super active in our group and we have loved watching her business grow.
Tell us about you! What's your story? Married, kids, fur babies? What things do you love besides photography?
I've been married for six years, have three daughters, 5 and under, 2 pups, and 2 sheep! A couple things I enjoy other than photography are wood crafts, like wood burning or making new furniture for our house, and getting together with friends.
When did get into photography?
Only a few years ago!
What type of photography do you do? Or, unless, you do it all!
I do mostly couples (intimate weddings, engagements, date night sessions), but families too!
Okay. Just be straight with us. Nikon or Canon??? OR SOMETHING ELSE?? Oh my! ;)

What makes your passion shine and what are you most passionate about when capturing your images?
I think the raw emotion in my photos is really obvious. That is what I strive for, I think it's what makes the photo worth having!
What has been the hardest part of being a photographer?
The hardest part for me was definitely building up my clientele! Moving a lot has made that a long process!
Would you change anything that you have learned?
I don't think I'd change anything, unless it was learning everything I learned faster!
What kind of legacy do you want to leave behind with your work?
I want the emotion to be felt every time someone looks at a photo of mine. Whether it's pure happiness, or overwhelming love. I want it to be felt no matter how old the photo is!
What advice do you have for people that are just starting out with photography?
Don't give up!!! No matter what. If it's something you love to do, and feel like you're good at, keep going! It is such a hard industry, but so incredibly worth it. We are freezing time!!

Shameless plug time.... I recently booked a session with Katie. Is was the my FIRST professional photography related sessions since my engagement pictures and wedding 3 years ago. She started posting in The Photog Life Community and I couldn't get enough of her! When I visited Florida, I just knew that this was the type of session I wanted to do with my husband. She was so much fun! I am so nervous in front of the camera and she made us feel super comfortable. I will treasure these pictures forever! Here is one of my favorites!!!
